My name is Mikayla, and I started White Bear Pens in 2023 as a result of my growing fountain pen passion. I began using fountain pens in 2022, very quickly falling down the rabbit hole. I attended my first pen show in Atlanta in 2023, and got my first maker pens at the show. I was amazed and intrigued by the pen-making process, it absolutely fascinated me! After much research, I decided to make the investment and try my hand at making pens of my own. The more I made and experimented, the more I fell in love with it.

I decided to start my own shop because I truly love fountain pens and feel like I have a unique perspective to offer. My goal is to give others an amazing experience and pens they will love for a lifetime!

All pens are made by me in my home studio located in Saint Paul, Minnesota, with the assistance of shop dogs Fey and Jolene, and shop cat Fuji.

When not making pens, I can be found spending time with my daughter Matilda and husband Derek, writing with my ever-growing fountain pen collection, watching Friends, reading, and knitting.
